What Advertising to Buy for $3000?

June 21, 2007 – 3:35 pm

Recently we conducted an e-mail blast campaign with the L.A. Times within the city of Riverside. Over 20,000 e-mails were sent and we received a 6% return. That return was measured in people who clicked on any of the links landing at our website. There were three people who registered. The total cost was $3,000. A lesson learned the hard way.

We are now averaging 300 visitors to our site per day and around 90% of that traffic comes from our blog. We have done Radio, Print, Networking and E-Advertising that has accounted for the other 10%. But the cost for that 10% of traffic comes at a financial cost of almost 100%! It seems that for a site like ThemBid.com traditional advertising is a losing prospect.

Do you have a start up? How is most of your traffic generated?
