Netflix Revisited
June 30, 2007 – 3:14 pmWhen taking a break from hacking ThemBid.com I like to relax and watch a good movie. I don’t go to the theater anymore because I now have a two year old daughter who requires too much attention to enjoy a movie. So I usually go to the neighborhood video store. This sets me back from $4 to $8 a month. Previously, I tried out Netflix when it was $19.99 a month, but I found that I did not use it enough to make it worth the money. But now, I found out about the new $4.99 starter plan from Netflix. I have found my movie watching solution!
With the ability to order two movies a month, that plan fits perfectly into my routine. But the thing that really excited me is the 5 hours of streaming movie time. The only downside is that the streaming video software requires IE. I tried this out the other day with the movie Chinatown and I was amazed to see that it actually started up instantly and I did not experience any stutters at all. Good stuff.
