9 Ways to Get to the Thinking Zone
June 16, 2007 – 9:20 amMy favorite place to get into the “thinking zone” is in the shower. There is something about the quietness, combined with the steam that just makes my brain put things together. Here are some methods that my colleagues, mentors and people I have read about suggest to get into the “thinking zone”:
Take a boat to the middle of a lake.
- Get a sound proof room where you can make it as dark as possible.
- Go on a hike on a nature trail.
- Go to a quiet corner of a library.
- Work during the graveyard shift.
- Take a walk at a park.
- Use the time when you just wake up or right before you go to sleep.
- Use noise canceling earphones.
- Use a white noise generator
- Take more showers!
It is advisable to have some kind of recording instrument when entering the zone so that you may capture the awesome ideas you will create.
How do you get into the “thinking zone”?

probably best with a shower before going to sleep as you don’t have to rush for work. I reckon a steam shower would also get you in the zone! Visiting ‘Le John’ could also make the list!
